Cheryl Cole- Fight For This Love
Establishing
Shot
The establishing
shot fades in to a close up shot of the artist. This uses the artist star
persona right from the beginning engaging the audience and her fans as they
immediately know that it's her video. Within the first 5 seconds of the video
the artist makes eye contact with the audience which not only gains the
attention of the audience, it shows the confidence the artist has as well as
making the audience feel like the artist is connecting with them. The artist is
in the centre of the shot and her face is framed by her hair making her the
centre of attention and the first thing the audience sees.
Wide Angle/Birds Eye View
This
wide angle shot taken at a birds eye view is in a white setting, this makes
everything look really bright and focuses on the artist and her dancers because
the dancers are wearing black which stands out on the white background. The
artist is wearing mostly white which has connotations of innocence, her trouser
are animal prints which links to the title of the song "Fight"
because animals and fighting are both linked together. The artist is in the
centre of the rest of the dancers so she is focused on which builds her star
persona. It's taken at a bird’s eye view which makes them look smaller and
vulnerable
The artist is again in the centre of the shot so she is centre of
attention and the audience focus on her. On the left hand side of the artist is
her name which uses her star persona linking her to her name for the audience
to see and to make it easier for them to remember, this also ensure the song is
always linked to the artist because she is in the video and her name covers the
first third of the shot. The house style is consistent as the same three colors
are used throughout the video: White, black and red. Black and red both provide
the binary opposite of white as they are associated with mystery, danger and
maturity whereas white connotes innocence, immaturity and submissiveness. This
shows the artist had many qualities informing the audience about the artist. In
the final third of the shot the lyrics to the song are written, this links to
the lyrics and allows the reader to sing along if they want. The artist is
wearing a military looking outfit which again links to the title and chorus of
"fighting" and wearing the colour red links to "love"
