LMFAO-
Party Rock Anthem
Establishing
Shot
The establishing shot is black screen with red
writing, this introduces the video as the music does not match the video from
this we know that the video will be narrative based. The music does not begin
till one minute twenty-eight seconds to introduce the video, this involves the
audience and ensures they know what the video is about. The black background
implies the video will be mysterious however red connotes energy and danger
which reflects the video because there are two men is shown to be in hospital
(twenty three seconds) which represents the danger and there are lots of people
dancing (two minutes eleven on wards) which represents energy. The writing fades
in which has a dramatic effect which links to the sound effects in the
background. This
video is a parody, the video mimics a number of outrageous common conventions
of other music videos, and the video ironically follows the comedy genre.
Group shot,
Wide Angle, Fast Pace
This shot matches the lyrics because he is
"running" there are several fast pace shot reverse shots which
reinforces the energy they have to "Party". The artist is makes eye
contact in between looking at the back up dancers to include the audience and
encourage them to "Party" with them. The setting of the video
reflects the clothing as they are clothing associated with the Pop genre. The
dancers are framed by the building to make them stand out and ensure the
audience looks at them.
Two Shot, Fade,
The video and music both fade at three minutes
thirty eight for 1 second, this was a common technique used in the 1950s, and
this technique has a dramatic effect it catches the audience’s attention and
makes them question pause for a freestyle dance until four minutes ten seconds
where the lyrics re-start. The artists are in the centre of the shot and are
again framed by the two buildings and there is a flood of lighting above them
to highlight the dancers.
